Andhra Pradesh: Chatrasthapanotsavam annual festival observed at Tirumala

TIRUPATI: Chatrasthapanotsavam annual festival was observed on a grand note at the highest peak on the Tirumala hills on Wednesday.

According to the temple legends, Narayanagiri mountain ranges are considered to be the highest peak on the Seshachalam ranges and it is believed that Lord Venkateswara first landed here and placed his divine feet on the highest peak at the Narayanagiri mountain ranges before He chose the sanctum sanctorum at the Tirumala temple as His dwelling place till the end of Kaliyuga.

Even as several centuries have passed by, one can clearly see and worship the sacred feet of Lord Venkateswara which have been preserved here on this sacred hill range called the Srivari Paadalu point.

And as part of the Chatrasthapanotsavam annual festival, a group of priests and staff from the hill temple carried sacred materials and performed special pujas to the holy feet of Lord Venkateswara at Narayanagiri and later erected a new umbrella near the Srivari Paadalu on Wednesday.
