Andhra Pradesh: BJP leaders urge governor to ensure law and order

AMARAVATI: BJP leaders urged the governor Biswa Bhushan Harichandan to advice the Andhra Pradesh government to take stringent action against the accused in the attack on Hindus during the Hanuman Shobha Yatra in Nellore.

The party leaders have also requested the governor to instruct the state police not to spare the accused in the crimes against the women. A BJP delegation led by former minister Kanna Lakshminarayana met the governor in Raj Bhavan and submitted a detailed representation on various issues.

Speaking to the media, Kanna Lakshminarayana said that attacks on Hindu religious institutions have become a common after YSRCP coming into power. He said that conversions were going on unabated due to the tacit support of the state government. He said that a BJP leader was attacked in Hindupur for questioning the construction of a mosque without requisite permissions.

He said that endowments department had not initiated any measures to suspend the licenses of the shops in Srisailam temple being operated by non-Hindus. He said that they have also taken the illegal construction of YSRCP office in Kakinada JNTU to the notice of the governor seeking his intervention.

BJP leader Bhanu Prakash Reddy said that police were not following the Constitution and IPC in the state. He alleged that police initially registered a suicide cases in connection with rape and murder of a woman in Hindupur. He said that they have subsequently altered the sections to rape and murder following their protest. He demanded that SI, CI and DSP of Gorantla should be immediately removed from the duties for dereliction of duties.

BJP general secretary Vetukuri Suryanarayana Raju said that Kakinada legislator encouraged the locals to encroach upon JNTU land after the High Court making it clear that the land is owned by the university. Mahila Morcha president B Nirmala Kishore demanded home minister Taneti Vanitha to tender an open apology to the women community for making inhuman comments.
