Andhra Pradesh: Bike-borne duo fires at car, flees with cash worth Rs 43.50 lakh

HYDERABAD: Two motorcycle-borne persons opened fire on a car driver at a sub-registrar office in Siddipet district of Andhra Pradesh and fled with Rs 43.50 lakh on Monday afternoon.

Narasaiah, who is an ex-sarpanch, had gone to the sub-registrar office for sale of his property. After completion of property documentation work at a local document writer near the SRO office, the buyer gave Rs 43.50 lakh in cash to Narasaiah, which included both Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 denominations.

"After collecting the cash, I gave the bag to my car driver. My driver locked the car from inside by keeping the cash bag. Meanwhile, two people came on a bike and banged on the car window with their hands. Suspecting that they could be robbers, my car driver tried to leave the place. But they opened fire on my car driver and the bullet hit his thigh. Later, one of the accused opened the car door and took the cash bag before they fled the place," Narasaiah told mediapersons.

The bike did not have any registration number. The weapon used by the accused fell in the victim's car.

When the incident took place, Narasaiah was inside the sub-registrar's office.

Police registered a case under attempt to murder and Arms Act and an investigation is being done.
