Andhra Pradesh: 10 students booked for clash, six arrested

The Kanchikacherla police of NTR Police Commissionerate, registered a case against 10 diploma students for allegedly clashing on the college premises.

According to Nandigama Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) G. Nageswar Reddy, a few first year diploma students of MIC College of Engineering, and Government Polytechnic College, Vijayawada, allegedly attacked second year students, near the college, at Kanchikacherla on Monday.

The first and second year students reportedly had an argument in a birthday party celebrated on April 5. Later, one of the student posted an SMS, which led to the clash, said Nandigama CI Nagendra Kumar.

On receiving information, police rushed to the spot and arrested six students. They launched a hunt for the remaining accused. The case is under investigation, the ACP said adding that one of the student gathered his friends from Ajit Singh Nagar and Rajarajeswari Peta areas and allegedly attacked the students.

“We conducted counselling for students in MIC College on Tuesday, and explained the consequences if they resorted to teasing and attacks,” Mr. Nageswar Reddy said.
