Andhra Pradesh: 10 children hospitalised due to food adulteration in Srikakulam

SRIKAKULAM: At least ten children were hospitalized after they consumed milk and eggs at the Anganwadi center in Laveru mandal in the district on Saturday. Of the ten, the conditions of two children are said to be critical.

According to sources, children in an Anganwadi center at Neteru village in Lakshmipuram panchayat of Laveru mandal started vomiting after consuming the milk and eggs. They were unconscious after a few minutes and admitted to RIMS in Srikakulam town. The incident took place within two hours after parents dropped the children at Anganwadi center.

Few parents alleged that they received a message from the center that children vomited the food consumed by them at the center.

The children Landa Dhanush, K Mahesh, B Uday Kirna, B Rohini, A Satwik, A Vishnu Vardhan, A Rama Lakshmi, B Sirisha, B Jhansi, and V Sandip were hospitalized. Of the ten, the condition of two children Bandi Jhnasi and Bandi Sirishais is said to be serious.

Meanwhile, the parents of the hospitalized children staged protests in front of the Anganwadi center. Etcherla MLA Gorle Kiran Kumar visited the hospital along with the ICDS CDPO Jhansi Rani and MPDO B Madhusudana Rao.

He requested the doctors to provide better treatment to the children.
