Andhra Cabinet raises retirement age for PSUs; restores Old Pension Schemes for 11,000 employees

The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet on Tuesday approved raising the retirement age of employees working in state public sector undertakings (PSUs), Gurukul schools and welfare societies from 60 to 62 years, bringing them on par with state government employees.

The decision will apply to employees and teachers working in PSUs, SC, ST, BC and Minority Welfare Societies, as well as Gurukul educational institutions.

In another key decision benefiting government employees, the Cabinet approved extending the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) to employees appointed through various recruitment notifications issued before September 2004.

With the approval, around 11,000 employees will be shifted from the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) to the Old Pension Scheme, the government said.
