Anderson Strathern appoints new specialist employment lawyer

Anderson Strathern has appointed specialist employment lawyer Musab Hemsi as a director to its employment team.

Hemsi joins from law firm LexLeyton where he led its Glasgow team advising across the food and drink, retail, energy, construction and digital industries.

He graduated from the University of Glasgow and is an accredited specialist in employment law with the Law Society of Scotland, and holds the Signet Accreditation in Employment Law.

He is also a member of the European Employment Lawyers Association. Hemsi is also the chairperson of the Scottish Discrimination Law Association.

Anderson Strathern has around 295 employees across Edinburgh, Glasgow, Haddington and Lerwick.

Partner and department manager of the employment team, Chris McDowall, said: “Musab is a fantastic addition to the team. Not only is he a top class employment lawyer, he builds great relationships with clients and potential clients alike. His proven track record in attracting and advising corporates and small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) means he will be a great asset.”

Musab Hemsi, director at Anderson Strathern, said: “It’s an exciting time to be joining the highly respected team at Anderson Strathern as we gear up for further growth. I look forward to being a key part of its future success and working with the firm’s clients across many sectors.”

Murray McCall, managing partner at Anderson Strathern said: “Employment law has had to move in check with an exceptional time of change over the last couple of years. In the face of legislative changes, the pandemic, Brexit, the importance of employee wellbeing, technological transformation, and all the thinking around the future of work, there has never been such a multitude of factors and trends to consider as an employment lawyer, and indeed for employers and employees themselves.”
