Ander Herrera risks wrath of Man United fans with message to Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds United

Former Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera has congratulated his former boss after Leeds United claimed promotion.

Marcelo Bielsa's men secured their ascent on Friday night when West Brom were stunned by relegation-threatened Huddersfield Town.

The promotion means Leeds will play Premier League football for the first time in 16 years.

And former United midfielder Herrera has sent out a tweet that might upset some Man United fans, but Leeds supporters will certainly appreciate the touch.

Herrera, who is now at PSG, worked with Bielsa at Athletic Club and like many of the Argentine's former players, he always has time for his old boss.

He wrote on Twitter: "MUFC will always be my team in England, but putting rivalries aside, I want to congratulate Bielsa and his honest and always attractive football. I am so happy for you, Marcelo."

Herrera left United in 2019 to join PSG after five years at Old Trafford.

Working under Bielsa, Herrera and Athletic Club finished second in both the Europa League and the Copa del Rey.

Bielsa left Bilbao a year after reaching the final of those competitions after failing to hit the same heights the following season.
