Ander Herrera details Neymar's stance on PSG future amid Barcelona transfer links

Neymar told PSG team-mate Ander Herrera that he is "happier than ever" despite transfer speculation linking him with a move away.

The Spaniard swapped Manchester for Paris in the summer when the French club were fending off Barcelona's interest in the world's most expensive player.

Since heading to the Parc des Princes for £198m in 2017 Neymar has regularly been linked with a return to Spain.

Initially Real Madrid looked to be his preferred destination, but now Barcelona are doing their utmost to bring him back to the Nou Camp.

Neymar has received plenty of bad press due to his conduct in Paris - both on and field and off it.

But Herrera claims the Brazilian places a huge focus on bringing the team together and is desperate to win more silverware.

"He is one of the big surprises I have found in my career because when the media speaks it is not always positive," he told ESPN.

"They are always trying to find a way to kill him.

"But I found a guy who is happy every day, that is trying to make the group strong. He organises dinners at his house so we can be together and he tries to win us as many trophies as possible.

"He is smiling every day and creating a good atmosphere in the team. He told me he was happier than ever in the club.

"It's like I read about a different player than the one that I found. I understand that all the people want to talk about him, maybe because of his hair or the way he dresses."

Herrera, who has had his debut season hampered by injures, reckons the Parisians have two of the world's top five players in Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

The Frenchman has enjoyed huge success since bursting onto the scene and the Spaniard claims he waltzes around his team-mates in training.

"Sometimes in training, it is like he is training with kids," Herrera said. "The way he runs, the way he moves, he leaves you behind him."
