Recently, the University of Michigan found that there are slightly more women drivers than men, with women making up 51% of all drivers. However, despite this, female drivers are still treated as a novelty. This Nashville-based couple found that out first-hand when the wife started pumping gas at the gas station.
Under the handle @puckettrealestate, the pair filmed a TikTok in their car, which began with them sitting and giggling.
“Lauren got approached at the gas station pump,” he revealed. “Here, I’m in here [the car] working, not pumping the gas where I would normally do as the husband. Of course, the one time I don’t is a guy who came up to her at the pump and was like, ‘Someone as beautiful as you shouldn’t be pumping her own gas.'”
Lauren then got out of the car to speak to the man, who was dutifully pumping gas into her car.
“How many girls’ gas pumps have you pumped today?” she asked. The man insisted she was the “one and only.” As the pair continued to chat, the husband, clearly miffed, mumbled, “Hey dude, I’m right in here.”
As Lauren got back in the car, the man encouraged the husband to “use [his] line.”
“I’m totally using it,” he responded. “No, I’m just kidding. Thank you, buddy.” The TikTok was accompanied by a description, which said, “Chivalry is not dead.”

Viewers agree she shouldn’t have been pumping gas
In the comments, users were mostly stunned that the husband didn’t take any action.
“LOL, hell no,” one wrote. “You should have got out and said ‘I got this man, I got her!’ Did you really stay in the car?”
A second asked, “And you…and you sat there and let him?”
A third expressed similar sentiments, writing, “Boy, you better get up.”
Meanwhile, a fourth remarked that “he could’ve stopped working for two minutes,” while a fifth noted: “Hiding in the car while another man pumps your wife for you, it’s a baaaad look bud.”
Several others claimed that the man could see the husband, and was trying to “teach [him] a lesson.” As a sixth commenter put it: “He saw you in there. He was tryna prove a point.”
Clearly, the husband didn’t quite get the reaction he was hoping for with this video. The TikTok account didn’t immediately respond to the Mary Sue’s request for comment.
