'And that's why they can always make miracles' - Arsene Wenger delivers a fitting tribute to the people of Liverpool

Arsene Wenger has praised the solidarity shown in Liverpool following the Champions League final.

The former Arsenal boss was working as a TV pundit for the game in Madrid when he delivered a fitting tribute to the city.

Goals from Mo Salah and Divock Origi handed Jurgen Klopp's side a 2-0 win at Atletico Madrid's Wanda Metropolitano Stadium, securing them their sixth European Cup in the process.

But Wenger, who was working alongside former rival Jose Mourinho, was quick to comment on the city as a whole in the immediate aftermath.

"Liverpool is the city of music, of the working class, and of football," the Frenchmen said on beINSPORTS .

"We have seen an example tonight that it goes well together.

"Anyone who has managed in England knows it is a special place for football.

"And that's why they can always make miracles."
