The finale of And Just Like That, the spin-off series of Sex and the City, has aired - much to the disappointment of fans and critics.
Earlier this month, Sarah Jessica Parker - who has played Carrie Bradshaw since 1998 - expressed her “profound gratitude” after HBO announced the third season of And Just Like That is to be its last.
But the last episode of the controversial spin-off, which debuted in 2021, hasn’t gone down well with everyone.
The Independent wrote: “The much-maligned Sex and the City sequel series has finally come to an end, with a typically inept episode of unfunny jokes, hateful characters, and baffling plot turns.

“It was a mortifying last stand for a franchise that many of us once adored.”
The Guardian gave it two stars and wrote: “This whimper of an ending features a vile plumbing disaster, and a deeply unconvincing callback to Sex and the City’s last scene. It deserves a much camper sign-off than this.”
“As a de facto conclusion to Sex and the City, Michael Patrick King's series finale is even worse than the second movie — in no small part because it isn't written like an ending at all,” IndieWire wrote.
The Times, meanwhile, called it a “lacklustre end to a dire sequel”.
The episode has also had a divided reaction from fans - while some were sad to say goodbye to Carrie Bradshaw, many were frustrated at the finale.
“There had actually been some decent episodes in this season of AJLT and then THAT is how they end the entire series??? I’m livid,” one fan wrote.
“Why am I saying farewell to some of my favorite TV characters of all time and seeing a toilet overflow on my screen? #AndJustLikeThat,” another added.
Another posted: “After six seasons, two movies, and three reboot seasons. THIS is how you end it? The fans and these characters deserved so much more. I refuse to accept this mess.”

Announcing the show’s end at the start of the month, Sarah Jessica Parker said: “MPK (Michael Patrick King, the series’ showrunner) and I together recognised, as we have in the past, this chapter complete.
“AJLT (And Just Like That) was all joy, adventure, the greatest kind of hard work alongside the most extraordinary talent of 380 that includes all the brilliant actors who joined us.
“I am better for every single day I spent with you, it will be forever before I forget the whole thing, thank you all.
“I love you so, I hope you love these final two episodes as much as we all do.”
