Ancoats Chinese restaurant shares heartbreaking message after being broken into for the third time in a year

A popular Chinese restaurant in Ancoats has been broken into for the third time in less than a year.

The Blue Eyed Panda had its front door smashed in the early hours of this morning, with the restaurant's security system alerting the owners.

The Jersey Street site was broken into twice last winter, one of many local businesses to struggle with a spate of burglaries at the time.

Owner Carolina Ho, who opened the restaurant in February last year, said that on one occasion all that was taken from the site was some food.

She said: "Why again? We don't have anything! The first time they came they took not much, just spare change.

"The next time they took food - my staff thought I was joking when I said that but they took some spring rolls."

The restaurant opened back up post-lockdown in May for takeaway, before opening for dine-in customers again in July - including a visit from former Manchester City player David Silva.

Despite the damage caused to the building, the Blue Eyed Panda will be opening again today - and Carolina said they 'won't give up so easy'.

She added: "It's really trying to balance things, there's so many things to deal with.

"We're managing the capacity and the staff levels which is difficult - our Chinese restaurant people are used to just walking in and we're having to encourage people to book.

"I hope they catch them quickly so no one else's business gets hurt.

"It's difficult for everybody at the minute."

Posting on social media this morning, Carolina wrote: "Please!!! Why again???

"You or your people came last November TWICE and you know we have NO MONEY or VALUABLES? Or did you really enjoyed the Spring Rolls and the Crispy Duck last year??

"We trying to survive in this difficult time, please!

"Let us breathe!!! Let us move on!!!! Don’t waste your time!!!"
