An ancient snack bar will soon be open to visitors at the Archaeological Park of the buried Italian city of Pompeii.
From August 12, visitors will be able to see the site in the Gulf of Naples south of the volcano Vesuvius, the Pompeii Archaeological Park announced.
In December, experts said that they had uncovered the counter of a kind of snack bar. The find had caused great interest at the time because it is very well preserved.
A yellow painting and images of a rooster, for example, were still clearly visible on the counter. At that time, people had carved holes into the stone table. Researchers assume that food was displayed there for sale. During the excavations, the workers also found food remains, as well as human and animal bones.
