Anchorman star Will Ferrell is bringing Ron Burgundy back with his own podcast

Ron Burgundy is getting his own podcast next year and it’s kind of a big deal.

The fictional news anchor, played by Will Ferrell, is set to respire his role and front two 12-episode runs of The Burgundy Podcast.

An irate Burgundy announced the exciting news, which will be six years after the last Anchorman film, after becoming embroiled in a mock spat with CNN’s Don Lemon.

Burgundy wrote: “So about that favor: the media landscape is changing so fast and I DO NOT CARE FOR IT. That's why I'm starting a ‘podcast!’.”

The podcast is set to be produced by US company iHeartRadio in the US, with 24 episodes ordered for 2019.

Revealing more about the news in a statement, Burgundy said: “Listen, I don't know what a podcast is, but I currently have a lot of time on my hands and a lot to talk about.

"I am also broke. Therefore, I am very excited to do this podcast. It is literally saving my life.”

The network joked: “Ron quite literally forced us into making this podcast with him, first calling us more than one hundred times in a single day and then proceeding to actually show up at our doorstep and physically force himself into our studios.

“We do hope the podcast is well-received, but in the meantime, we hope by agreeing to do the announcement he will stay away.”

Burgundy quipped back that the calling was “persistence” and that he was “filing a suit for salacious claims”.

The Burgundy Podcast is slated for 2019.
