Ancelotti issues response over Chelsea's Tomori amid Everton's transfer search

Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has refused to be drawn on links with Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori.

The young centre-back has been linked with a loan move to the Toffees with reports claiming Everton will pay a 'multi-million pound' loan fee to land him this summer.

Everton are in need of a centre-back and Ancelotti has admitted as much, saying: "We are looking for a centre-back and we are looking in the market.

"I think we can have one because now we are only with Yerry Mina and Michael Keane.

"But we are looking for another one."

While Ancelotti admits to wanting a centre-back, he refuses to be drawn on Tomori.

Asked about the Chelsea defender, he responded: "Where does Tomori play? In Chelsea, so don't ask me this!"

The most recent reports suggest Everton are no longer confident of signing Tomori.

Football Insider say the 22-year-old could move to Stade-Rennais instead as part of the Blues' move for goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

One way or another, it seems Tomori will depart on loan with Frank Lampard having plenty of options at centre-back, including Thiago Silva, Kurt Zouma, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger.
