AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has said he would welcome a permanent move for loan-target David Beckham.
The Serie A club are in talks to bring the Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder to the San Siro on a three-month loan in January and, although Beckham will return to the United States, Ancelotti stated he would like to keep him.
"Yes, certainly," he said when asked if he was interested in signing the 33-year-old for good in a news conference today, adding that a short-term deal was still worthwhile.
"Perhaps we will only be useful to him because we will train him but he could be useful to us, even if it was only for one game," he added. "We will not consider him a tourist but a fully-fledged player who will insert himself into the squad without problems and compete with the others."
Ancelotti also confirmed that Beckham may go on a mid-season trip to Dubai with Milan at the end of December if the loan goes through.
