ANAS Sarwar has been urged to “come clean” on the reasons why another Labour Party MSP has been suspended.
On Saturday, it was revealed that Scottish Labour’s Foysol Choudhury had been administratively suspended pending the outcome of an investigation, The National understands.
The Lothian MSP’s suspension reportedly comes amid an internal complaint over alleged inappropriate conduct.
Last month, Scottish Labour also suspended Colin Smyth after he was charged over allegations that a secret camera was placed in toilets inside the Scottish Parliament and for possessing indecent images of children.
Scottish Labour leader Sarwar has now been urged to “urgently come clean” on the reasons why another of his party's MSPs has been suspended, shortly after Smyth.
SNP MP Kirsty Blackman has said that the public deserves full transparency over Choudhury's suspension.
She said: “Given the long list of scandals that have rocked the Labour Party recently - with Foysol Choudhury, Colin Smyth, Peter Mandelson, Morgan McSweeney, Paul Ovenden and Angela Rayner all caught up in the last month alone - voters deserve answers.
“Whatever the explanation, with yet another scandal on the eve of their party conference, there's no doubt the Labour Party is in crisis.”
Following Choudhury's suspension, a Scottish Labour Party spokesperson said: “The Labour Party takes all complaints seriously.
“They are fully investigated in line with our rules and procedures, and any appropriate action is taken.”
The Labour Party has been dogged with suspensions and resignations over the last several weeks.
Angela Rayner resigned from her roles in the UK Government, including deputy prime minister, following a row over her tax affairs.

The Labour MP admitted to underpaying around £40,000 in stamp duty on a £800,000 property in Hove.
Peter Mandelson was also sacked this month as UK ambassador to the US after details of his relationship with the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein were exposed.
Mandelson had coached Epstein through his conviction for soliciting prostitution in 2008, describing the convicted paedophile as an “intelligent, sharp-witted man”, who “parachuted” into his life, in a message in a book compiled by convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell for Epstein’s 50th birthday.
The Labour grandee also wrote that after Epstein appeared in his life, he “would spend many hours just waiting for him to turn up”.
Keir Starmer’s embattled chief of staff, Morgan McSweeney, also faced fresh questions on Friday after it emerged he had ignored official warnings to declare thousands of pounds of donations.

McSweeney is facing fierce criticism after it emerged he had failed to report nearly £740,000 in gifts over a three-year period, and the organisation was later fined for more than 20 breaches of electoral law.
Scottish Labour has been approached for comment.
