Scottish Labour – who have called for NHS bosses to be sacked over the scandal – last night said James’ treatment is typical of the problems with the hospital.
Leader Anas Sarwar said: “This staggering case lays bare the culture of denial and secrecy that patients and their families are up against.
“It is clear from these desperate moves just how concerned the hospital’s leadership were about the safety of the ward – and how determined they were to hide it.
“It is simply astounding that not one person has been held accountable for this scandal.
“Enough is enough. The SNP must show that they stand with patients, families and staff and remove the Health Board leadership as a matter of urgency.”
David’s local MSP Jackie Baillie, Scottish Labour’s shadow health secretary, said: “It shouldn’t take fights and investigations for the family to learn the truth about their own child’s medical care.
“We hear one devastating story after another, and yet no one has taken any responsibility.”
The NHS board said it was “untrue” that they were withholding information.
He added: “We will continue to challenge these unacceptable claims which once again have questioned the integrity and professionalism of our frontline staff.
“We have been, and remain, fully committed to being completely open and transparent in all that we do and we are dismayed that claims to the contrary are being repeated.”
