Anas Sarwar dances to Uptown Funk as he gatecrashes outdoor class to show off skills

Anas Sarwar has taken his election campaigning to the next level - by whipping out some top notch dad dancing.

The Scottish Labour leader took some time out from canvassing in West Lothian to break out into an incredible routine outside the Tony Macaroni Arena in Livingston this afternoon.

Sarwar’s campaign chief Gordon McKee shared footage of the 38-year-old politician getting down with the Saltire Burlesque Academy to Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars.

Writing on Twitter, he said: “When you’re on a campaign visit with @AnasSarwar and there’s a dance class going on. He couldn’t resist…”

The Glasgow MSP was clearly chuffed with his dance moves as he shared the footage on his own Twitter account - he even made an attempt to create a friendship with Bruno Mars himself.

“Don’t believe me, just watch”, he said in a tweet sent out to the Uptown Funk star.

He is yet to receive a response from the singer, but he won praise from the women taking part in the dance class.

And if he is unsuccessful in his bid to become First Minister of Scotland, Saltire Burlesque Academy have offered him a place in their group.

In a tweet to Anas, they said: “Was a pleasure to dance with @AnasSarwar your moves were awesome, new @SBA_Scotland member in the making.”

Sarwar went on to reveal the latest Scottish Labour campaign video, where he pledged to deliver a ‘national recovery’ from the coronavirus pandemic in Scotland.

But his party faces an uphill struggle in next month's Scottish election, as recent polling suggests that Scottish Labour is on course to return fewer MSPs.

Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP look set to sweep power at Holyrood once again but are predicted to fall just short of a majority.

Scots will be able to cast their ballot at polling station on May 6.
