Anantkumar Hegde seeks probe against Muskaan

Uttara Kannada MP and BJP leader Anantkumar Hegde has written to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai demanding a “detailed inquiry” into the “links” of Bibi Muskan of Mandya with “unseen hands and banned organisations” behind the hijab controversy.

Recently, Ayman Al-Zawahiri of banned terrorist organisation Al Qaeda had released a video in which he praised Bibi Muskan for the way she stood her ground when a group of saffron shawl sporting boys heckled her chanting “Jai Shri Ram.”

Responding to a question on the letter, Mr. Bommai said he would speak to Mr. Hegde, seek information about the issue, and take appropriate action based on that.

Earlier, reacting to the video, Ms. Muskan’s father Mohammad Hussain Khan had said that the family had nothing to the video or the man who had made the statement. “We are living peacefully in our country, we don’t want him to talk about us, as he is not related to us... it is wrong, it is an attempt to create division among us,” he had said.
