NAGPUR: Anandi Sonawane of Dharampeth Krida Mandal (DKM) and Shreyash Bhosale of Nagpur Amateur Sports Association (NASA) will lead Nagpur's 12-member girls and boys teams in the Maharashtra State inter-district Sub-Junior (U-13) Basketball Championship scheduled to begin at Kolhapur from Friday.
The secretary of Nagpur District Basketball Association (NDBA) Bhavesh Kuchanwar declared the district teams on Wednesday. The Maharashtra state basketball tournament for hoopsters below 13 years is being conducted after 2019 due to the pandemic break. In 2019, Nagpur played host to the U-13 championship.
The five-day state selection tournament will be played at Sahaji Law College, Kolhapur, from October 28 to November 1, 2022. From this U-13 tournament Maharashtra teams will be selected for the forthcoming West Zone Nationals organized by the Basketball Federation of India (BFI).
The championship is being conducted by Maha Basketball Association.
The NDBA president Sandip Joshi, secretary Bhavesh Kuchanwar and all the members gave their best wishes to Nagpur teams.
