Analysts speculate “better than 50% shot” Tannehill is back-up in 2019

The Rotoworld Football Podcast, hosted by Josh Norris, played quarterback match-maker on their latest episode, which released yesterday afternoon.

On the show, Norris is joined by analysts Raymond Summerlin and Patrick Daugherty to match up departing quarterbacks with new teams for the 2019 season and beyond.

Their analysis on Tannehill, which begins right around the 23:00 mark of the podcast, makes the point that if the Redskins, who desperately need a starter, choose to go any other direction at the quarterback position, the simple math of available quarterback jobs may limit Tannehill to being a back-up quarterback in 2019.

The roundtable discussion makes the points that Cincinnati and Jacksonville, who will have other options to pursue in addition to Tannehill, have incumbents deemed not good enough already and that Tannehill simply isn’t an upgrade over the players already in place.

Yesterday, we wrote that the Bengals were a sleeper team to acquire Tannehill if (in the long odds) any team chooses to part with assets to acquire assets thanks to new head coach Zac Taylor’s familiarity with Tannehill.

So what say you? Is Ryan Tannehill one of the NFL’s 32 starting quarterbacks in Week 1 of the 2019 season?
