Analyst altercation after Arsenal winner against Aston Villa looked into by the FA

The FA are looking into an altercation between analysts from Arsenal and Aston Villa during the Gunners’ win on Saturday.

Arsenal had been drawing 2-2 going into injury-time at Villa Park, but scored twice to earn a 4-2 win that sent them back top of the Premier League.

An altercation occurred in the press box between Arsenal analyst Miguel Molina and Victor Manas of Villa after Emi Martinez’s own-goal made it 3-2 to Arsenal.

Villa analyst Manas, who previously worked at Arsenal when Unai Emery was in charge, is believed to have been angered by Molina’s celebrations.

The pair clashed in the press box and stewards moved in to diffuse the situation. Molina is understood to have then left the area by his own accord. Manas and Molina are also understood to have spoken after the match to clear the air.

The FA, however, are looking into the incident to fully understand what took place in the stands at Villa Park.

Asked about the situation after the match, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said: “Like anything that happens in the stands. We will look at it, address it and take action if it’s necessary.”

Villa manager Emery was also asked about the situation in his post-match press conference, but he was unaware of the incident at that time.
