The children detention centre home to Ana Kriegel's killers Boy A and Boy B has seen almost a 50% increase in assaults in just one year.
Oberstown Children's Detention Campus in Dublin recorded 47 assaults in 2020 which was a sharp rise from 32 in 2019.
Of these shocking attacks, 21 were assaults on staff by children while the other 26 were child-on-child attacks.
There are currently 29 boys and no girls at the Lusk-based campus with Freedom of Information figures released to Newstalk revealing that 14 kids have been there for less than six months.
Fifteen children have been there for six months or over and four boys in total have been detained there for four years.
Oberstown confirmed that none of these assaults last year led to the hospitalisation of any of the children.
In May 2020, one of the killers of tragic schoolgirl Ana Kriegel, Boy A, was violently beaten up as he watched TV in the youth detention centre.

The teenager was sentenced to 12 years for a violent sexual assault. He must serve at least 12 years before he can be considered for release.
His co-accused who is also detained at Oberstown, known as ‘Boy B’, was sentenced to 15 years for Ana’s murder with a review after eight years.

The teen killers are entitled to attend school, undertake their junior certificates and use sports and leisure facilities.
Oberstown is described as a bright modern facility with the detainees each having their own TV which is turned off remotely at 2am until 9am the next morning.
It costs €350,000 a year to house each inmate at Oberstown which received a €54 million revamp recently.
It has around 250 staff with a five-to-one ratio to the children housed there.
