Ana Kriegel's heartbroken parents speak out after her teen killers are sentenced for her murder

The parents of Ana Kriegel have spoken out after her teen killers were sentenced at a court in Dublin today.

Geraldine and Patric said "justice has been served" but that "forever is not long enough" in a heartbreaking statement outside the courtroom after the sentences were handed down.

The teenage murderer known as Boy A, described by the Judge as the "main actor" in the murder, was today sentenced to life imprisonment for her murder.

That sentence will be reviewed after 12 years with the judge setting a date for that review of January 2029.

Boy A was also sentenced to eight years' detention for the aggravated sexual assault of the 14-year-old schoolgirl. Both sentences will run concurrently.

And Ana's parents issued a heartbreaking statement to the media, thanking all those who had supported them during the trial.

The tragic schoolgirl's mum Geraldine said: "We would like to express our extreme gratitude to Mark O'Neill and his team in An Garda Siochana who put everything they had into finding those responsible for Ana's murder.

Siobhan McIntyre for holding the family up through all of this pain, Brendan and the legal team, the jury and the judge.

Superintendent John Gordon speaks outside court following the sentence of Boy A and Boy B

"The media for being so understanding. The victim support unit, our family our friends and our neighbours. And thank you to all of the wonderful people out there that supported us and kept us going.

Patric added: "Justice has been served for Ana. The judge has decided on the sentence, and that duty lies with him alone.

"For our part we can only say that forever is not long enough. Please remember Ana and keep her in your hearts."
