An underwater photography exhibition visible only to swimmers will highlight plastic pollution

A photographer has done a deep dive into water pollution for his new exhibition, which takes place at the bottom of a swimming pool.

Robin Conway, who is also a qualified scuba diver and swimming teacher, teamed up with Royal Ballet soloist Fernando Montaño to highlight the effect of plastics on the world’s oceans and waterways.

The photographs, visible only to swimmers at Oasis Sports Centre in Covent Garden, will be immersed using diving weights.

In Dance For The Sea, Montaño moves among recycled plastic art sculptures submerged in water. The pictures were first showcased on billboards for World Oceans Day in June, and form part of a larger collection accompanied by a film of the same name.

Conway's upcoming work also focuses on ocean pollution with 13 Million, a collaboration featuring identical twin ballet dancers Joshua and Laurie McSherry-Gray.

Dance For The Sea will run at the Oasis Sports Centre’s outdoor swimming pool, Endell Street from September 23-28.
