An Post has warned that a number of offices may have to close temporarily because of staff shortages due to Covid-19.
Due to the number of workers contracting coronavirus, a spokesperson said it is causing “a temporary strain” on resources.
As a result, they are expecting some regions to encounter delays with deliveries as they work through the current shortage of available staff.
Those who collect social welfare benefits from An Post have been reassured that where a post office has to temporarily close, they will be able to collect their payments from a neighbouring office.
In a statement, An Post said that plans to cope during this difficult time are in place and staff “are working hard to minimise the impact on customers”.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this situation may cause.
“The Health & Safety of our Staff and Customers is our priority.”
Schools across the country are also coping with staff shortages as record daily case numbers continue to be reported.

Speaking after the first day back, General Secretary of the Irish National Teachers' Organisation (INTO) John Boyle said it was “an incredibly difficult” day.
He said: "Initial feedback from members on the ground is that today was an incredibly difficult first day back, with many pupils and staff members restricting movement due to contracting the virus or being close contacts."
Meanwhile, Michael Gillespie of the Teachers Union Ireland continues to call on the Department to provide more support.
"School communities are returning to unprecedentedly challenging environments around the country,” he said.
“It is absolutely critical that the Department steps up and supports the efforts of staff and students to keep schools open."
