An overturned trailer is causing major delays out of Cardiff as Easter getaway begins

There are major delays out of Cardiff after a trailer overturned.

Part of the A4232 Ely Link road out of the city was closed as emergency services work to removed the campervan and the trailer that were being pulled by a Land Rover.

The road re-opened at 2.30pm after being closed for over an hour, but there were still major delays on the road and surrounding routes.

Police were diverting traffic in the area, and there is  warning of heavy congestion.

Police are asking drivers to take alternative routes, and bus companies are warning passengers of delays.

It comes are roads are expected to be busy ahead of the Easter getaway.

At 2.40pm, traffic was back to Leckwith, and there are delays on the A4050 from Barry to Culverhouse Cross and on the A48 to St Nicholas in the Vale of Glamorgan.

Traffic monitors were also showing that traffic was slow southbound as motorists slowed to look at the accident and as people queue to get onto Culverhouse Cross.
