Production for Emily In Paris season five is about to kick off in May, but according to multiple reports, there’s one beloved original character who won’t be returning for the fifth season. And it’s not who you might think.
Camille Razat — who plays Emily’s (Lily Collins) friend-turned-romantic-nemesis, Camille — has confirmed she will not be returning to the show.

Razat took to Instagram with a touching message and a series of behind-the-scenes pics after fans noticed her name was left off the press release for season five of the beloved fashion-forward show.
“After an incredible journey, I’ve made the decision to step away from Emily in Paris,” Razat wrote, before thanking creator Darren Star, Netflix and the team behind the show.
“This character has meant a lot to me, and I feel that her storyline has naturally come to an end. It felt like the right moment to explore new horizons.
I leave the show with nothing but love and admiration for the cast, crew, and fans who have supported us along the way. Thank you for the beautiful ride.”

Razat also revealed that she has launched her own production company called Tazar Production.
“We mainly produce music videos and short films for now, but we’re currently developing our first feature film, something I’m truly passionate about and excited to grow,” she said.
The news of Razat’s rumoured departure from the series comes as a shock following disparaging comments their co-star Lucas Bravo, who plays hot chef Gabriel, made about the show.
Just after the September 2024 premiere of season four, Bravo told the French publication Le Figaro that he felt the on-screen relationship between his character Gabriel, portrayed alongside Lily Collins‘ character Emily, was “archaic”.
“People see this mechanism coming from miles away, and I don’t want to be part of a cog that tends not to consider the intelligence of the audience,” he said.

After that absolute sledge, he revealed he was done with the show.
“Life is short. It takes five months to shoot this series. Do I want to sacrifice them by telling something that does not stimulate me?” he said.
“I don’t really have any freedom [with Emily In Paris]. And as people are starting to give it to me elsewhere, I am getting a taste for it.”
However, by the time season five was confirmed in April 2025, it was revealed that Bravo was returning to the series.
I’m sure that’ll make it a bit awkward on set once filming kicks off!

Who is returning for Emily In Paris season 5?
According to Netflix’s Tudum, the wonderful Lily Collins will be returning as the almighty Emily Cooper as she sets off to start fresh in Rome.
Welp, better start calling her Emily In Rome!!!!
Alongside Collins and Bravo, Eugenio Franceschini and Lucien Laviscount will be returning as Emily’s other love interests, Marcello and Alfie.
To bring the comedic flair and ~vibes~, Ashley Park, Samuel Arnold and Bruno Gourery return as Emily’s friends and colleagues.
Plus, the always exquisite Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu and devesataingly handsome William Abadie are making a comeback.

What can we expect in Emily In Paris season 5?
When we last left Emily, she’d just been asked to lead Agence Grateu’s new Rome office and had sparked a relationship with Marcello (Francheshini).
“Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,” Collins told Tudum.
“We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.”

Meanwhile, Gabriel headed to Italy in a last-ditch effort to win Emily back after Camille ended their engagement due to his feelings for Emily.
“Unfortunately, Gabriel has to deal with the repercussions of his choice,” she says.
Juicy, right?!
When is Emily In Paris season 5 coming out?
Although Netflix hasn’t confirmed a locked in release date, they have stated that filming kicks off in Rome in May so fingers crossed we’ll get an Emily In Paris Rome update later on in 2025.
