An NFL beer vendor was arrested after charging fan $724 for two beers

Buying food at professional sports venues can often feel like a scam, but one unlucky fan at Sunday’s Chargers-Dolphins game paid a mind-blowing markup for a pair of beers: $724.

According to the Miami Herald, beer vendor Nathaniel Collier used a personal, unauthorized card reader to add hundreds of dollars to the price. Fortunately, the fan who was scammed quickly received a notification from their bank about the charge.

Collier worked for Rocket Man, a subcontractor that places roving vendors in stadiums. If you’ve been to a Dolphins game in the last year, there’s a chance that he swiped your card.

Via the Miami Herald:

“[Collier] worked as a walking vendor at the stadium for more than a year, police said. He was fired following his arrest, Rocket Man said in a statement. The customer received a full refund, the company said.

… Collier faces charges of grand theft and using a skimming device, police said. He was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and issued a $10,000 bond.”
