My first thoughts on this book were quite different to my end thoughts as the book pulled me in to depths of different emotions. It was a decent sized book but not one I would drift off to as it kept me wanting more. I loved the idea and it was definitely a story I adored. It was filled with happy, sad, anger and most of all, suspense.
When I finished the book I was really confused. Not because of the story plot, but because of the title as they didn’t have an island of their own. Once I had read the introduction again I realised it was a metaphor. A metaphor for what though?Though they do not own an island, the book features many of them. The story is a great example of how perseverance can be used, as they go on a journey to retrieve their part from their aunt’s will. As well as perseverance, the tale contains an element of friendship which helps them along their way to reclaim what’s rightfully theirs.
In conclusion, I have decided to give this book a 4.5/5 because, although people say ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’, the cover does have a bit of impact on the story.
