This book makes me feel like a 12-year-old girl even though I am a 10-year-old boy! The book is a brilliant adventure story, but it is also about love and friendship. I hope you enjoy my review of An Island Of Our Own.
Now I’m going to tell you about what I like and dislike. I like the style of how the author writes as a 12-year-old girl and not as an adult. My favourite characters are Holly and Davey because Davey is funny and Holly is very enthusiastic about everything. The characters in this book feel lots of different emotions such sad, happy, annoyed, scared and disappointed.
The main character, Holly, made me feel sad but also happy. I did not like the bits that were sad but I enjoyed the rest of the book. I think Davey, Holly and Jonathon have a very hard life. Their life is difficult because they don’t have any parents. I am glad I have parents and don’t get reviewed on how clean our house is!
My favourite part was when Holly went on the journey to the Orkney Islands because it was an adventure where anything could happen. They saw some dolphins whilst they were coming in to Orkney bay where their grandma’s friends were waiting for them, they went to a thrilling party where they danced till morning and they got a ride in their grandma’s friend jeep! In the Orkney Islands they found no treasure but Holly found the biggest treasure of all, family!
This book encouraged me to go on my own adventure to the Orkney Islands. I don’t like doing chores but this book has also encouraged me to do more stuff to help other people and to make my family happy. I have recommended this book to my Mum, Dad and my cousin Holly.
I hope you have enjoyed my review and have your own adventures!
