As scoops for rookie reporters go, lining up Fidel Castro in an exclusive TV chat is not bad going. Of course, if you're called Diego Maradona, it might open up a few doors. And that appears to have happened with reports that the Hand of God himself has landed in the Caribbean with his television crew.
The Argentine paper La Nación says that the footballing icon is hoping to get two programmes for his show, the Night of Number 10, out of the visit. Maradona is no stranger to Cuba, having spent four years based in a spa there in an attempt to kick the drug habit that came close to killing him.
The latest photos show that the soccer legend, who not long ago looked rounder than a football, has regained a slimmer
look.
Maradona, never one to shy away from controversy, has also taken the opportunity while in Cuba to vent his internationalist hegemonic views.
