'An expensive trip': Ferrari supercar left mangled after overturning on the Woodhead Pass

A Ferrari worth an estimated £250,000 overturned in a crash on the Woodhead Pass.

The luxury supercar flipped after a smash on the A628 from Greater Manchester to South Yorkshire earlier today.

Police said it was one of a number of crashes on the winding rural route with heavy rain having swept across the region.

Officers in Derbyshire shared pictures of the car on its roof and badly damaged and of it on the back of a recovery truck.

It is believed the yellow coloured car is a 488 Pista model, which normally change hands for over £250,000.

North West Ambulance Service said two patients were treated at the scene, with one being taken to Tameside Hospital.

In a post on Twitter, Derbyshire Police's High Peak Response uni said: "An expensive trip up the #WoodheadPass today for this driver. One of a number of reported collisions today across the #HighPeak."

Motorists had been warned to ensure they drove to the conditions with further bouts of heavy rain leaving standing water and roads wet in places.
