The work of a British illustrator known for her progressive female characters will go on display in London next year.
From May 2019, the capital will host a major UK show celebrating the work of comic artist and graphic novelist Posy Simmonds.
The House of Illustration exhibition will feature her early-career pastiches and iconic cartoon strips, as well as some of her children’s books, including Fred.
Graphic novel True Love will also be on display as well as more recent drawings from her 2018 book Cassandra Darke.
The exhibition, co-curated by Paul Gravett, will also show unseen pages from Tamara Drewe — a book that was later made into an Indie film starring Gemma Arterton.
Most known for her sharp satire, Simmonds' career spans for more than 50 years. Her long-running comic strip for the Guardian was so popular that it went on to become the 1979 novel Mrs Weber's Diary.
Posy Simmonds: A Retrospective will run in King’s Cross for four months, until September 15.
