Joan Baez, America’s legendary folk singer, songwriter and activist, is back in Australia for a national tour. For more than 50 years, she has been a central figure in the cultural and political life of the United States, and has released more than 30 albums.
Part-Spanish, part-Scottish, she sings in Spanish, English and has recorded songs by the Beatles, Jackson Browne, Leonard Cohen, and Bob Dylan She has also interpreted songs by such modern songwriters as Ryan Adams, Steve Earle and Natalie Merchant. She’s also well known for her commitment to social activism, and has campaign for civil rights, human rights and environmental issues.
