An emotional Russell Westbrook dedicates his historic night to the late Nipsey Hussle

Russell Westbrook had a huge night against the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday, finishing with 20 points, 21 assists and 20 rebounds in the Thunder’s 119-103 win at home.

Westbrook joined Wilt Chamberlain as just the second player in NBA history to have a 20-20-20 triple-double, which is incredible.

But in the final seconds after he got his final rebound. and then in the postgame interview, it wasn’t about Westbrook. Instead, he took the time to dedicate the night and his performance to Nipsey Hussle, the rapper who was shot and killed in Los Angeles, Westbrook’s hometown, on Sunday.

Check out Westbrook showing his emotions in the final minute after securing the special triple-double:

Then he spoke about what it meant to pay his respects to Nipsey, who was a friend of his and someone who inspired him on a daily basis:

He said:

“That wasn’t for me. That was for my bro. That’s for Nipsey… 20 plus 20 plus 20.

“Somebody I looked up to, somebody that paved the way for a guy like myself growing up in the inner city. To have those conversations with him. I’m just truly saddened by the situation, just continue to pray for his family.”

Pretty special moment for Westbrook on such an incredible night which started with this tribute to Nipsey:
