As we approach the final stretch of 2020, it’s hard to avoid the C-word. We are, of course, talking about Christmas.
We’re looking forward to it this year more than most. Aside from gorging on pigs-in-blankets and wrapping gifts for our loved ones, the thing we’re most excited about is cracking out board games to play with our chosen six friends and family.
The classic? It’s got to be Monopoly. While the game has been around since 1935, it stays fresh by launching new versions for the times. We’ve seen it all - from Game of Thrones and Stranger Things, to James Bond 007 and Star Wars - that keep it feeling exciting while pulling in a whole new audience to the game.
For Christmas 2020, toy maker extraordinaire Hasbro has pushed the sleigh out with a super Christmassy edition based on the hit 2003 holiday comedy, Elf.
In this festive version, you’ll join Buddy, played by Will Ferrell in the film, on a jolly jaunt across NYC as he explores new locations, looks for his dad and ultimately saves Christmas.
In keeping with the theme, the Monopoly: Elf game tokens have been given a movie makeover: think Santa’s Sleigh, Polar Bear Cub, Jack-in-the-Box, Mailroom Coffee Mug, Santa’s Bag and Maple Syrup.
