An Easter egg cafe is coming to the Trafford Centre - and it's in the shape of a giant gold egg

The world's first 'Easter Egg Cafe' is coming to the Trafford Centre next week - and it's actually shaped like a giant egg.

The huge gold egg will pop up in the main dome at the shopping centre from Friday April 12, serving sweet treats to shoppers.

On the menu will be a range of dessert dishes - from brownies and cheesecakes to ice cream - all presented inside a chocolate Easter egg bowl.

Flavour combinations, all served on a deconstructed cheesecake, will include Ferrero (topped with Nutella, roasted hazelnuts and crumbled Ferrero Roche), Lotus (with Lotus Biscoff sauce and crumbs), strawberry (with fresh strawberry coulis and fresh berries) and raspberry and white chocolate.

Each menu item will be served with a sauce-filled 'syringe' to inject an extra layer of topping into the mix.

The project comes from the centre's dessert cafe Haute Dolci, and Hey Little Cupcake in Selfridges.

Manchester's brunch cafe Federal will open second site on Deansgate next week

As well as being situated inside a giant golden egg, the chairs inside will be designed to look like Easter eggs too.

The Easter egg cafe will only be in situ for one week, and visitors will have a chance to win a £100 intu gift card if they share an image of their visit with the hashtag #Eastereggcafe.

Alison Niven, regional centre director at intu Trafford Centre, said: "Every year our centre is filled with shoppers excited for Easter and buying tasty treats for their loved ones from Hotel Chocolat, Selfridges, John Lewis, Thorntons and more – so we simply wanted to celebrate and enhance the nation’s love for the holiday.

"The launch of the café is just another way we strive to put exciting experiences at the heart of a trip to intu Trafford Centre. We hope shoppers have a fantastic time tucking into the delicious eggs!"

The Easter Egg Café will open at the Main Dome at the intu Trafford Centre on Friday April 12.

It will be open from 12pm-9pm every day between April 12 and April 20, except April 14 when opening hours will be 12pm-6pm.
