An axe, a knife and a BB gun - the weapons left over at the site of the illegal rave in Carrington

An axe, a knife and a BB gun were all seized from the site of last night’s illegal rave in Trafford.

Around 2,000 people descended on a piece of waste ground in Carrington and gathered to take part in an illegal rave on Saturday night (June 13).

Three people were stabbed and a teenager was raped during the gathering, which happened near the water treatment centre in front of the paper mill.

In the wake of Saturday night’s mayhem residents joined forces to help police clean up the area.

Police seized a knife, an axe and an air powered BB gun from the site.

During one attack on Saturday night an 18-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries and police officers were forced to step in and give first aid before paramedics arrived.

He is now recovering in hospital and is assisting officers with their investigation into the gathering, Greater Manchester Police said.

The officers who worked to save the young man were met with threats of violence and items were thrown at a police car, GMP said.

Assistant Chief Constable Chris Sykes said officers who are working to keep people safe “should never be met with inexcusable violence whilst carrying out their duties”.

He added: “We went in there to try and save someone’s life that had been seriously injured and found it quite difficult working in that crowd.”

Another two men - aged 25 and 26 - also suffered injuries after seperate assaults. Their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

During a separate attack, an 18-year-old woman who attended the rave was raped.

The young woman, from Greater Manchester, is being supported by specialist officers whilst police work to trace a suspect.

Detectives are also pursuing the organisers of the event as they work to piece together the details.

Anyone with footage that could assist enquiries is asked to send it to SCD.CCTV@GMP.POLICE.UK.

Witnesses reported seeing around 50 emergency vehicles on Mile Road, in Flixton, at around 9.30pm on Saturday night, while Manchester Road was closed between Partington and Carrington.
