An Asteroid hurtling towards Earth has a 0.41% chance of hitting planet warns Nasa

As if 2020 couldn't get any weirder, Nasa has revealed that an asteroid has a very small chance of coming into the Earth's atmosphere in November.

Luckily, they have predicted that it has about a 0.41 percent chance of colliding with our planet, meaning the risk is still substantially low.

However, the space agency has revealed that the asteroid, known as 2018VP1, has 'three potential impact zones' where the asteroid could theoretically hit Earth.

Nasa calculated the risk “based on 21 observations spanning 12.968 days” but still think the risk of impact is below one per cent.

Luckily the asteroid is also quite small in size - with a diameter of 0.002 km (about 6.5 feet), according to Nasa.

Nasa said that even if the asteroid did come into the earth's atmosphere it would likely 'disintegrate due to its extremely small size.'

2018VP1 was first discovered in 2018 and is predicted to fly by Earth on 2 November 2020 say the space agency.
