An ancient mystery

A visitor views the ancient megalith called "Ishi no hoden" (Stone treasure hall) at Oshikojinja shrine in Takasago, Hyogo Prefecture. Believed to be built during or prior to the 7th century, the giant stone weighs about 500 tons and is 5.6 meters tall, 6.5 meters wide and 5.6 meters thick. It also has a 1.8-meter long rooflike protrusion on its back side. Considered one of Japan's "three wonders," it is gaining popularity as a spiritual destination.
