Former Nottingham Forest striker Kevin Campbell has recalled memories of banging the goals in for his old side.
The Forest promotion hero notched 23 goals in the 1997-98 Championship-winning side that returned to the Premier League following relegation in 1997.
Alongside Pierre van Hooijdonk, who scored 34 goals, Campbell helped fire the Reds back to the top flight.
Campbell departed at the end of the season, sold to Turkish side Trabzonspor for £2.5 million, a sale that prompted van Hooijdonk to controversially go 'on strike' .
He joined the Reds in 1995 and notched a total of 32 League goals in 80 games during his time on Trentside.
And Campbell has discussed his time at Forest, his partnership with the Dutch striker and how that revitalised his career at the City Ground.
“It started off okay, we had a decent team but ultimately we got relegated and Dave Bassett came in to replace Frank Clark," he told the Undr the Cosh podcast.
“He really bought the squad together and was keen for me to rediscover my form.
"Dave pulled me for a chat and asked what had been going wrong.
"I told him I’d been injured and a bit out of form but that I backed my ability to get it back.
"He told me there and then that I’d convinced him and that I would start the season alongside Pierre van Hooijdonk.”
57 goals later from the pair, Forest were promoted.
“I had a really good pre-season and the team did really well during that memorable season," he continued.
“Me and Pierre scored the most goals in Europe that season. I got 20 and Pierre got 35 or 36. It was an amazing time for the club.”
