An after-dark zip line adventure is coming to Manchester's Heaton Park

A new zip line adventure is launching in Manchester this winter - with the entire experience taking place under the cover of darkness.

Treetop Trek at Manchester's Heaton Park is offering thrill-seekers the chance to take on the zip lines by light of a head torch.

High above the woodland floor, participants will make their way from tree to tree through the dark canopy of ancient woodland.

At a height of more than 15 metres, adventurers will weave through the forest across 23 obstacles including balance bars, swinging logs and Indiana bridges, along with 15 zip lines - in the dark.

The high-ropes experience has been strictly reserved for adults and older teens.

This after-dark zip trek has been scheduled to coincide with the highly-anticipated Heaton Park Lightopia Lantern Festival in December.

The treks will take place on Friday the 6, 13 and 20 of December priced at £33 per person.

Places are limited to just 20 people per trek, and willing adventurers will need to book online at www.treetoptrek.co.uk/events  or by calling 015394 47186.

Like the original Lake District site, Manchester’s Treetop Trek adventure features more than 20 zip-wires and one of the longest continuous belay ropes course in the UK.

The maximum elevation at the site is 18 meters, with a continuous attachment to the wires throughout.  The challenge takes around two to three hours to complete.
