'An absolute legend' Falkirk football clubs pay tribute to Walter Smith

Falkirk football clubs have paid tribute to Walter Smith following his death.

Rangers announced on their website this morning that the former manager and chairman had passed away at the age of 73.

Fans have left scarves, flowers and written tributes at the gates of Ibrox today in honour of legendary manager.

In a short statement, Falkirk FC bosses said: "Deepest condolences from everybody at Falkirk FC.

"Our thoughts are with Walter’s family and loved ones. RIP."

Stenhousemuir FC said: "An absolute legend of the Scottish game. Sincere condolences from everyone at Stenhousemuir.

"Our thoughts are with Walter's family and friends at this sad time. Rest in peace, Walter."

Smith managed Rangers, his boyhood heroes, during the 1990s after succeeding Graeme Souness and led the club to an historic nine consecutive titles.
