An 89-year-old man called at his favourite shop to wish staff a happy Christmas... and fell victim to cruel thieves

A pensioner was the victim of a cruel crime after he called at one his favourite shops to wish staff a happy Christmas. The 89-year-old man had his wallet stolen out of his pocket.

Now police in Lancashire have issued CCTV images of two women they wish to speak to in connection with the crime. In a statement Lancashire Constabulary said: "We want to speak to them after an 89-year-old man had his wallet stolen out of his pocket. The incident happened on Tuesday, December 20th, at around 11am, after he had gone into Novellos Clothing in Fishergate, Preston, to wish the staff a Merry Christmas."

PC Danielle Lilley, of Preston Police, said: "This was a despicable crime against a vulnerable person and I would urge anyone with any information to contact me as soon as possible."
