Amy Schumer pays beautiful tribute to husband Chris on their son's birthday

Amy Schumer paid tribute to her husband in a touching post for her son's second birthday.

The actress shared a snap on Instagram that showed her husband Chris Fischer holding their son Gene, and one of her in hospital during the C section that brought her son into the world.

Amy wrote a touching caption, addressing the stigma surrounding autism, which her husband Chris, 41, is openly diagnosed with.

Sharing with her 10.5m followers, the comedian wrote: "Today is our son’s birthday and I woke up emotional as hell thinking about my husband, Chris.

"In this first photo while I was having a 3 hour c section he held my hand and stared in my eyes so I never felt alone. I feel loved and supported always.

"He takes care of our family and is a husband and father beyond my wildest dreams. Also he has autism spectrum disorder."

Amy went on to explain how her husband's diagnosis has made it easier for the two parents to communicate and support each other.

She wrote: "Being tested and diagnosed has helped us communicate and support each other better. People have reached out to us saying that seeing our doc #expectingamy motivated them to get tested and that it has changed their lives.

"We want to encourage parents and people to give themselves the gift of information so people can function to the best of their abilities and remove any stigma that comes with autism.

"Statistically our son most likely will be diagnosed as well and if he’s anything like his father that is wonderful news.

"So on our babies birthday where he held my hand tight snd held me with his eyes I want to say I love you thank you snd happy birthday little geenie panini we love you as much as you love school busses."

Model Emily Ratajkowski commented on the sweet post, writing: "Happy birthday to all three of you".

Mindy Kaling, who is best known for her roles on The Mindy Project and The Office (US), wrote: "You are a gem and I love your family".

Amy's fans were touched by the heartfelt post, with some taking to the comments to thank Amy for how it has made them feel about their own loved ones.

One fan was particularly moved by the post, writing: "Thanks for always being so positive about autism, it’s so uplifting and refreshing to see.

"My boy is diagnosed autistic, as his father almost certainly is too, and you’re right - knowledge is power and understanding.

"We refuse to make him bend to accommodate a world that doesn’t understand him, it can bend to accommodate HIM. He’s worth the effort."

Another fan commented: "Thanks for giving me hope that my special son will find someone special to love."
