Comedian Amy Schumer shared a video on her Instagram playfully mocking those that take a social media break for mental health reasons.

The 41-year-old posted a sarcastic video on Sunday night, equipped with bed hair and pyjamas, saying how she wants to post more on the platform and how watching Love Island and the Bachelor in her 40s is beneficial to her mental and physical wellbeing.

In the Life & Beth star’s post, she said: “Hey y’all. I’ve decided for my own mental health, to do more social media.

“I find that looking at my phone for eight and a half hours a day is helping me. And it’s helping this pimple patch and this breakout.”

She continued: “And being in my 40s, it’s actually really good for me to watch all of Love Island and all of The Bachelors. Whether in paradise or just normal mansions.

“So you’ll be seeing a lot more of me on social media just for my physical and mental wellbeing.”

Schumer’s satirical post was met with the amusement of her A-list friends.

The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants actress Amber Rose Tamblyn commented: “Finally a sensible take!”

Orlando Bloom wrote: “This honesty is so beautiful and vulnerable. I’m here you ... your real, live, friend.”

Michelle Pfeiffer added three laughing emojis and Chelsea Handler commented, “I like when you start videos with hey y’all.”

This video came just hours after Spider-Man actor Tom Holland had posted a clip onto his Instagram announcing a social media break for his mental health.

The 26-year-old explained: “I have taken a break from social media for my mental health, because I find Instagram and Twitter to be overstimulating, to be overwhelming...

“I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online, and ultimately, it’s very detrimental to my mental state, so I decided to take a step back and delete the app.”

British actor Robert Lindsay made a similar statement over the weekend, which he said was at the urging of his son.

The BAFTA winner wrote: “After a long conversation with my son I’ve decided to leave Twitter alone as he feels it’s affecting my daily life, thoughts and imaginings.

“He’s right of course and I need to detox from the stresses of social media and concentrate on what I set out to do three years ago and write.”
