Amy Schumer legally changes son's name after noticing it sounds like a body part

Amy Schumer has revealed that she has legally changed her son's name a month before his first birthday.

The comedian, 38, welcomed son Gene Attell Fischer with husband Chris Fisher in May 2019.

Speaking on the podcast 3 Girls, 1 Keith today, Amy said she and Chris decided to officially change the name they'd picked out for their boy after realising it sounded too much like 'Genital'.

The pair had named their boy after Amy's close friend and fellow comic Dave Attell.

From now on Gene Attell will go by the name of Gene David to avoid any confusion.

Amy explained: "Do you guys know that Gene, our baby’s name is officially changed?

"It’s now Gene David Fischer. It was Gene Attell Fischer, but we realised that we, by accident, named our son 'Genital'."

Fellow guest Claudia O'Doherty admitted that she had made the observation but hadn't told Amy to her face.

"My mum pointed that out to me, "Amy’s called her son 'Genital', and she was right!"' laughed Claudia.

Amy's pal Dave Attell, who inspired her son's name, had starred alongside her in hit movie Trainwreck as the homeless man living outside her apartment.

Its believed Gene's first name is a tribute to late actor Gene Wilder.

Amy and her husband Chris welcomed their first son a year after they tied the knot in 2018 in a stunning Malibu ceremony.

The pair will join forces later this year to star in their own show for the Food Network.

The show will see Chris - a chef and food writer - try and teach Amy how to cook.

Some of the episodes will self shot as the couple have been filming themselves in the kitchen during the coronavirus lockdown.
